As >Rockville Central readers know, one attendee at Council Member Piotr Gajewski’s “Town Hall” meeting earlier this month posed a series of questions in an email afterward. They are listed at the end of our recap of the meeting.

Council Member Gajewski has been working on answers to those questions, asking City staff to run down details. He recently wrote me: “As the questions were posed on RC, I plan to respond on RC. I will not wait to have answers to all to start responding; the answers should start trickling out starting next week.”

So, here is the first answer to come in, which is the answer to Belinda Engels’ third question (hence the inscrutable title of this article). The question was, in part:

3) In reading about the once a week trash collection we will be getting soon and how it will save the average household about $100 per year in increases, I notice the article says “bulk trash will be picked up by appointment.” This is a weekly service that was included in our regular trash schedule for as long as I can remember. Will we now be charged extra for bulk trash pickup? WSSC removes bulk trash but charges the customer extra for the service.

And the answer is:

Under the new system, bulk pickups will be combined with metal/appliances pickups. There will be no extra charge for up to six call-ins per year. The Director of Public Works can make exceptions to this limit.

Thanks, Piotr!
