Leaving, TX at the First Friday Deck Party, VisArts, 6th Floor, 5 PM – 8 PM. The boys from Leaving, TX will be bringing their alt-country sound to town at 6 PM. Lead singer Chris Patterson was a guest on our Rockville Central Radio Show. I’ll be there, join me!
HearArts Literary Reading and Music Performance, VisArts Rockville, 7:30 PM. This month features published and award winning poets Kim Roberts and Hiram Larew, along with Sue Dale playing classical, jazz and pop on the keyboard.
Saturday, June 7
Rockville Growers Only Farmers Market, Corner of Monroe Street & Rt. 28, 9 AM – 1 PM. Free parking. First one of the season! Flowers, fruits, vegetables, plants and home-baked goods. Always a good review.
Twinbrook Family and Friends Pool Party, Twinbrook Swimming Pool, 2 PM – 8 PM. FREE swimming, moonbounce, face painting, snow cones, popcorn, bike safety check, and music!
Flower & Garden Festival, Rockville Town Square, 11 AM – 5 PM. “Traditional Japanese Garden Displays, over 30 flower and garden related exhibitors, industry specific demonstrations, Japanese inspired entertainment and a raffle to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Campaign.“

Rockville Express vs Alexandria, Montgomery College Rockville, Knight’s Field, 5 PM. Free Admission to all Home Games, which are family-friendly with souvenirs and food from O’Brien’s Pit Barbeque.
Tuesday, June 10
Kid’s Day, Rockville Town Square, 6 PM – 8 PM. Free activities for the kids! Climbing, golf, baseball, dance, and a Velcro wall! Every Tuesday until July 22nd. Kids eat free at participating restaurants.
Wednesday, June 11
2008 Rockville Public Safety Awards Luncheon, Lakewood Country Club,12 Noon. $30/advance, $35/at the door. Contact John Tyner tyner@taliesan.com for a reservation. Jill Sorenson from Comcast SportsNet will present the awards to members of the Rockville City Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriffs Department, Montgomery County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department.

Daryl Davis, Concert in the Square, Rockville Town Square, 6 PM – 8 PM. He’s a musician, author, and lecturer. You may have heard him speak at Montgomery College and now you should hear him play: “Blues, Rockabilly, Rock’n'Roll, Boogie Woogie, Zydeco, and Country”. He’s played that piano with such greats as Chuck Berry and the Coasters!

Collection of Electronic Equipment for Recycling, Rockville City Hall, 9 AM – 2 PM. Hewlett Packard is sponsoring this event. We Recyle Inc. will be collecting your old electronics. You CAN recycle computers, laptops, hard drives, monitors (no loose glass), household printers, VCRs, DVD players, digital phones and personal printers but you CANNOT bring tvs, microwaves, stoves, refrigerants, air conditioners, or chemicals. (For the CANNOT list, call 240-314-8568 to schedule curbside pickups.)
