This dramatic image was taken Saturday night by Rockville Central friend Alain Menguy.

Of it, he writes: “[This is of] the ’2008 Light The Night Walk’ passing by our neighborhood and honoring lives touched by blood cancer. According to the ‘Light the night’ web-site, walkers carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold to commemorate lives lost – to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. . . . It’s kind of special as it’s a very long pause shot (around 8sec.) with no tripod, giving more an ‘impressionist’ scene than the reality . . . But I really like the results!”

So do we.
