So many streets . . . not one is mine!

I’ve been waiting for this post to make this comment…>
I diligently check this construction schedule every month for my street, Maple Ave. I’ve never seen Maple on there for the Rockville area. Then two weeks ago I saw Verizon trucks in the area and I managed to ask one of the installers if it was fiber that they were installing. The installer confirmed that it was fiber and that the spool on the telephone pole above us was coming down Maple. I’m positive that the wire has been run by now, so it’s a bit confusing that I’ve never seen Maple in the monthly schedule, Feb, March, and now April. I believe the problem is that the construction schedule does NOT include streets where they are running the fiber on telephone poles, which includes my street and a lot of the surrounding streets. Maybe this is true for you Brad. Has anyone else noticed this?
-Tim
The schedule does include streets that are pole construction, like mine. I think what your finding is that sometimes the pole constructions goes so fast that they get ahead of the published schedule.
Either way I’m thrilled they are done with my neighborhood and was SUPER EXCITED when I found I could already order service for my house. I placed my order online, getting the latest discount offer and have an install date scheduled for Thursday the 16th, YAY!>
My neighbor must have beat me to ordering, because Verizon was out on Wednesday running the fiber to their house!
Is tv going to be available as well?
TV is available for me, so I assume it will be for all of Rockville. I got their triple package thingy which is phone, internet and TV.
I just got a notice from Verizon in the mail that said FIOS was coming to my neighborhood soon and to check their website for availability. Unfortunately it shows that it’s not available yet. >
Does anyone know how long it takes from the mailing until service is ready?
Not sure since they did zero marketing in our neighborhood before it was available. Just keep trying your address on their web site and looking for their construction crews in your neighborhood!
Woke up this morning to find them pulling fiber along the poles on North Orchad Way so hey are getting close to me now!!
Why is it already mid-May and the Verizon website still says Fios is unavailable on Gerard St.??? Does anyone know how long this really takes?
It can takes several weeks to finish the fiber connection from the Central Office to you street. I’ve heard reports of delays of up to 8 months! I think ~2 months is more typical.
