Dear Readers:>

Cindy and Brad have been working very, very hard to get all the bells and whistles just right for the redesign of the Rockville Central homepage.

If all goes well, we will be unveiling it tomorrow morning!

So, watch this space. Please make sure you give us feedback on what’s working and what isn’t. There may be some bumps in the road at the outset, but we will try to minimize it!

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Guys,What happened? Rockville Living’s website now looks 10 times better than this one. I feel like you jumped the shark a bit on the re-design. Is it still in process? What happened to the huge pic of the Civic Center mansion? Why are the colors the way they are? I like the addition of twitter and way you can scroll through the past pic of the day photos and there are probably other cool things I am missing. I guess I could just follow in google reader anyway but seriously it doesn’t look like one of the most read blogs in Maryland anymore even though it will continue to be.

Thanks for the feedback; we appreciate it. We’ve gotten a lot of positive comments but we like to hear negative comments as well because it helps us refine things. Well, maybe “like to hear” is a small overstatement…. :-)

I don’t mind the colors or the smaller graphics- in fact, I like the fact that you’re experimenting with different looks. I will gently suggest that the text in the opinion column begin with the writer’s actual text, rather than the boilerplate “contibutor opinion” text. Thanks for taking suggestions, and more importantly, providing a place to give and receive opinions.

I like the new layout. I think readers will appreciate the “news” and “opinion” columns – it feels like a newspaper, which lends a nice air of legitimacy. (I’m sure that was a challenge to set up.) I liked the old colors better, though. Right now I feel like I’m in a sweatjacket . . . from the 80′s.Congratulations, though!

Thanks for the feedback. Herb, you are so right about the opinion excerpts. Moving forward that is what we will do.Dan, what’s wrong with sweatjackets from the 80′s? I mean, come on.

I like the categories for News and for Opinions! The colors are a bit striking but not a bad thing. I think that’s great you guys revamped the blog because sometimes change is refreshing. I think I should do that to mine soon too.

Hi Guys, Congrats on a clean and modern website! I prefer it, it feel is easier to navigate and to read. Personally I would like to see more pictures or colored images amongst the words. It can help the reader to navigate, it catches the eye and brighten things. I would also like to see buttons on the front page for new comments, new opinions, new threads… I had to open someone else’s comment to find the form to comment but maybe I missed something………Well done for all that hard work!
