While I was at a community event in Rockville Town Center this afternoon, I heard about a fire nearby and went to check it out.

The very popular Indian restaurant, Bombay Bistro, was burning. The overall structure itself appeared in OK shape, but there were at least three engines that I could see and it appeared that fire fighters might have been preparing to go in through the roof.

If anyone has more information, please post it in the comments.

Fire trucks were there twice. These pictures appear to be from the second visit.I spoke to the manager during the second appearance of the fire trucks. He said there was an issue with the vent hood, grease trap, and something about electric wires. Earlier in the morning, there was tons of smoke coming out of their chimney, but I assumed that was just from cooking – there were people inside so I assumed no help needed to be called. As of 3pm or so a repair truck is there and looks like things are getting back into shape. Hope so, because I have gotten to be a very regular customer at the cleaners next door. And we sure don’t need another abandoned burned-out building in the neighborhood…referring to Burbanks, of course.

Oh no! I like their sunday brunch. I’ve been going there for years.
