Michelle Schrier, a former student at Ritchie Park Elementary now attending Eastern Middle School, is going to be on Jeopardy! . The show airs on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 7:30 PM.
Michelle was watching the show and saw the announcement about Jeopardy! Kids Week. She immediately told her mother she wanted to compete. The first step was an online test. She was then invited to New York City for the weekend for another online test, mock games and a practice interview. Much to the family’s surprise, the producer called from California and she was on the show. She and her mother went to Los Angeles for the taping at the beginning of April.
Her mom, Lesley Schrier, said all the kids had a great time and they keep in touch by email. Michelle is away at camp for a month and the family is sending a DVD of the show for all the campers to watch during dinner the following day.
Starting on July 13th, interviews and pictures from the show will be posted on the Jeopardy! Kids Week website.
Unlike the adult version, kids compete on only one show. The family has been sworn to secrecy about the results so we’ll all have to watch!
Congratulations Michelle! I will be routing for you. It is so nice to see young people getting recognition for their academic ability.
