Share A Story or Picture for Our 150th Anniversary Celebration
>

Rockville will mark its sesquicentennial anniversary in March 2010. The City was incorporated by the Maryland state legislature on March 10, 1860. A Sesquicentennial Committee has volunteered to help the City Staff plan lively and meaningful activities to commemorate the occasion.
You can play a valuable part and personally share in the experience in two ways:
Photographs
Photographers of all ages and experience can submit photos to be part of a juried art exhibition in January 2010. The 150th Anniversary Photography Exhibition in Glenview Mansion’s Art Gallery will kick off the year-long Anniversary Celebration. The photographs must be taken within the city’s corporate limits between January 1, 2009 and September 30, 2009. Photographs should be in three categories: people, nature or places. Entries must be submitted by September 30th. The call for entries information is here.
Stories
We couldn’t possibly have a proper celebration without hearing stories from all the many neighborhoods in Rockville. We have almost 64,000 residents so there are at least that many stories!
You are invited to “Share your memories of growing up in the city, share generational stories of living in Rockville, neighborhood tales or anything that will give insight into Rockville’s past, as well as its future.” If you have a story send it to: rockville150@rockvillemd.gov
This momentous anniversary is a perfect chance to share why living in Rockville is special. The City has changed so much in 150 years. Reflecting on the differences will be fun. As opportunities to participate come along, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Here in the theatre’s box office, we would love to see old pictures of the theatre, not just 2009. It will be our 50th anniversary, too.If someone has some, please let me know at kcohen@rockvillemd.gov
