The National Scrabble Association’s DC Chapter will be having another tournament at VisArts on Saturday, July 18, 2009. We first heard about the competitions when Cheryl Kagan, District 17 candidate for State Senate, sent in a Contributor’s Review describing the last one. She’s giving us a head’s up about the event.
There’s still room for a few more serious players. Several people are competing for the first time. If you have played online or in a club and have good word knowledge, you could join them.
The entry fee is $60 (most of which is returned in prizes) and entrants must join the North American Scrabble Players Association ($30 through 2010), which can be done on site on Saturday.
If you are interested, don’t delay. Email Ted Gest as soon as possible: gestted@aol.com. He will be glad to answer questions.
Spectators can observe the event to see championship level play, but observers can’t get too close to players and must be quiet during games. Games which have just ended can be observed during the short breaks between games and the longer lunch break from approximately 1-2 p.m. If you stop by find one of the directors: Ted Gest, Carole Denton, or Brian Bailey for guidance.
While at the VisArts location, you can also view the current exhibit Sculpting Time which closes July 26th.
