Free Showing of a Chinese Classic

At 7:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2009, the Rockville Sister City Corporation will present a Chinese Film at the Rockville Senior Center on Carnation Drive. This is a free cultural event and light refreshments will be provided.

The film is Springtime in a Small Town, directed by Tian Zhuangzhuang (2002). It is a remake of a 1940s Chinese classic about a love triangle in a small town the year after the end of World War II. It is a tightly controlled tale about thwarted desires, filmed with lovely scenery. The dialogue is in Mandarin but the film is subtitled in English.
