>Today promises to be a sunny day. The last election had blustery weather which held down the participation to 5887 ballots. This year, based on the 221 absentee ballot requests, which is 4% higher than the last election and good weather one can predict that there will probably be 7000 +/- 300 ballots cast. The Mayoral candidates show about equal donations and expenditures thus a close race can be expected. See you at the polls!

I hope the (short) line this morning at Elwood Smith was a sign of high voter turnout! Thanks to all the volunteers, who had the polls open on time and running smoothly.

Rockville didn’t get over 7000 voters, but there was an increase in voter turnout.Congratulations to the winners and “thank you” to all the candidates who ran a nice campaign.Thank you to all the voters who did go to the polls to vote yesterday.

Roald, I look forward to your analysis of all the results. Thank you for all the support you give to every candidate (and the process itself) every cycle. Democracy in Rockville is far healthier for your efforts. Tom

Rockville may have had more votes (6406) than in 2007 (5887) but as a percentage of registered voters actually voting decreased from 19.93% in 2007 (5887/29535) to yesterday’s 17.38% (6406/36840).
