This afternoon shortly before 4:00 pm, a Toyota sedan turning left from Monroe northbound onto East Jefferson apparently lost control, hopped the curb, and struck the PNC Bank building on the corner.
Customers and workers in the offices above reported no immediately evident injuries.
The vehicle caused a collapsed wall:
“I work up above,” said one onlooker. “I heard a crash and said to myself, ‘That’s no fender bender.’”
Montgomery County police and fire were on the scene and the situation was stable by 4:30.

Must be something about that bank. Back when it was Merchant’s Bank I saw a car thru the wall around the ATM – you can still see the difference in the brick where it was patched up. Two drive-ins is a lot for a single building!
rockville mounties were there, too! i happened by at 4 just as it had happened. amazing number of bystanders with their cell cameras like paparazzi!
Don’t worry, the County bought the property, in 20 years it’ll be the new Council Office building.
