Don’t forget that the last >city-televised candidate forum is scheduled for next week.

The Twinbrook Citizens Association is hosting a candidate forum at the Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway, on Tuesday, October 20. The event starts at 7:00 pm and will be covered (no word on whether live or not) by the City’s channel 11.

While this is the last city-televised forum, it’s not the last forum overall! Rockville Central is putting on a candidate forum next Saturday morning. (Help us out with ideas here.)

It is my understanding that since the TCRC is a city facility, the debate will be televised live. I received this information from Marylou Berg earlier today.

Brad - thank you for publicizing our debate. The debate will be carried LIVE on TRC 11.We are still accepting questions for all candidates. Questions can be sent to me at [email protected]. In the 2005 and 2007 election cycles, Twinbrook co-hosted televised debates with Lincoln Park, Burgundy Estates, Hungerford, and East Rockville. Although we will be sole host this year, our questions will be formulated to be of interest to the greater Rockville community as well as to Twinbrook. Each neighborhood in Rockville has its own particular concerns, and we are well aware that in a meta sense we all share the same problems that need to be solved on a City-wide basis. This is also the Twinbrook Citizens Associations 60th year of service to the Twinbrook neighborhood. We were chartered in 1949. I’m honored that Twinbrook was chosen to host one of the three televised debates.Sincerely,Christina Y. GinsbergPresident, Twinbrook Citizens Association

We in Twinbrook anxiously wait to see who will moderate the last televised Rockville Mayor and Council Forum on Tuesday, October 20. In particular I believe the candidates should know ahead of time who is moderating the event. It puzzles me that we don’t know the moderator three days before the debate since so much work needs to be worked out. Several folks have volunteered to help.I encourage everyone to either attend or watch the debate Tuesday because Twinbrook has all the same issues the other neighborhoods have. We have much to share since our civic organization has been around for 60 years. More recognition needs to be given to this anniversary. Please share this news with others who don’t have Internet access.

I just wanted to add my own comment on this forum. I thought it was designed and executed in a superb fashion. So many telling details were thought through so very carefully.I used to run events as a part of my job duties. You can always tell when event organizers have done their homework. That was very much the case in this instance. Not only that, the Twinbrook Citizens Association did an excellent job of asking the candidates to relate their positions and statements to Twinbrook itself. This allowed us to see candidates think through how their proposals and ideas affect the whole city.I really can’t praise this forum’s organizers enough. The executive committee and other Twinbrook volunteers deserve a round of applause!

I thought all the candidates did an outstanding job. Listening to the replays, I believe it even more.I would like to public thank Cheryl Kagan for moderating the event. She deserves another “thank you” which did not occur at the end of the forum.Brad, as always, you bring out the compliments. The community looks forward to the Rockville Central debate, which I am sure will be good. I will be there. See you Saturday morning .

I agree, Brigitta; Cheryl did indeed do an outstanding job.
