Don’t Worry, Rockville Will Collect Your Christmas Tree
I lived a while in rural Maine, where we actually had to take our own trash to the dump (there was no curbside service of any kind). So it never ceases to amaze me the big-city luxury services we get here in Our Fair City.
Used to be, I would fret after Christmas, because I knew I would have to get the tree to the dump, and it would shed pounds of needles in my truck. That fretting has stuck with me, so getting reminded that Rockville will just pick up your tree at the curb really just gives me a sense of relief!
The trees will be taken to the Montgomery County recycling center where they will get mulched.
Don’t forget: It can’t have any decorations (including tinsel) on it. No stand, and not in a bag. Just a bare tree. Put it out with your regular collection.
What amazes me is this is not some special service. It’s just the normal yard waste pickup.

The city will not necessarily be collecting trees from apartment and condominium complexes. According to management of the Fenestra apartments in Town Square, trees there may be left at the loading dock of 154 Gibbs Street.
