Gajewski Explores Run For Mayor
Tuesday we received word that Rockville Councilmember Piotr Gajewski has announced the formation of an exploratory committee to decide whether to run for mayor. He announced the news at a private home in the West End.
Here is Councilmember Gajewski’s announcement:
Today, Rockville Councilmember Piotr Gajewski announced the formation of an Exploratory Committee to assist him in determining the viability of a Mayoral bid. “I do have concerns about the path for Rockville advocated by the current Mayor and also about her much aired difficulties in working with the City Manager. Her personal squabbles have not served the City well.”
Gajewski went on to say that he will seek another term on the Rockville City Council but has not yet made a decision whether he will run for Mayor or seek reelection as Councilmember. Speaking to supporters, Gajewski stated: “In my work on the Council I have concentrated on making sure that Rockville citizens get the most out of our government. Quality services are what Rockville residents have grown to expect, and we must make sure that in times of austerity the core services are not jeopardized, but that the City government provides these services as efficiently as possible.”
Speaking about a possible Mayoral bid, Gajewski said: “A campaign for Mayor is an expensive proposition, so that in order to mount such a campaign I need to assess if there is enough interest in me becoming Mayor to support a run. To that end, I urge anyone who might want to support my candidacy to contact me at [email protected] or to make a contribution at this time to the “Friends of Piotr ‘Peter’ Gajewski” at www.votegajewski.com.”
Gajewski expects to announce his decision in May.
