“High School Musical,” at Rockville High School, last night, was fantastic! A musical that holds your attention with its rapid pace and has a modern-day message, for young and older. I have been going to the drama performances, at Rockville High School, for the past 5 years, and this was one of the very best yet. Very strong performances were given by Amy Broadbent (lead actress, Gabriella Montez, a beautiful and shy transfer student who excels in math and science) and Teddy Vossler (the lead actor, who plays Troy Bolton, captain of the basketball team). Other top-notch performances were given by Paris Ford (Sharpay Evans, the drama club president), Johan Clarke (Sharpay’s brother and drama club vice-president), Michael Chang (basketball coach Bolton, Troy’s father), Kaitlyn Townsend-Gray (Ms. Darbus, the drama teacher), and Tess Garraty (Ms. Tenny, the chemistry teacher). In addition, the large audience appreciated the well-performed roles by the other cast members. Also, the pit provided wonderful instrumental music, the set was just right, the crew did a great job, and the lighting enhanced the performance. The show, tonight, is at 7:00 p.m. and is ASL. The Sunday matinee is at 2:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for students, $10 for Adults. Tickets at the door. This is a show to see! A modern-day adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet.” It’s definitely worth your time and money! Don’t take my word, as a dad whose son is in the show. See it for yourself!
Richard Montgomery High School Black Maskers play “Thoroughly Modern Millie” is great. I attended and enjoyed opening night and recommend this play for an enjoyable evening out. The cast and crew did a fantastic job. The musicians are also to be complimented. I am amazed with the high school drama talent and the family volunteers who help make the program successful. The new RMHS Theater is beautiful. The RMHS Black Maskers Drama sponsors contributed to some good refreshments. For me having coffee available was a special hit. The photo display of the cast is also very nice. I appreciate all the hard work that goes to have a successful performance. My thanks goes to all those who worked on “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” As a RMHS alumnus I am proud to have attended the play. Support our Rockville high schools by attending the shows this weekend. Enjoy; it’s worth $10.
