[UPDATED] Measles Watch For Shady Grove Adventist ER Patients (Apr. 5-7)
Apr 13, 2009 10:24 - 3 Comments
>Alert from WTOP News:
A measles watch in Montgomery County is intensifying. County and state health officials are asking anyone who was admitted to the emergency room at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital last weekend to call 301-826-6000. . . .
The problem developed earlier this year when an unvaccinated resident returned from a trip overseas. Since then, two adults and an infant have been diagnosed with measles.
UPDATE: Mark has given new information in the comments.

The WTOP story is incorrect. It has the wrong dates and bad information. The Gazette story is more accurate. All the patients have been contacted from early last week, not last weekend.

Ah,yes. Measles. The disease we’re all supposed to be vaccinated for. >
But, despite NO clinical evidence supporting the claim, some dummies choose not to have their children vaccinated because they think vaccinations are dangerous, or are a form of gov’t mind-control, or whatever. Sorry, did I say dummies? What I meant to say was DUMMIES.
Bravo to those parents. We’ve got a subset of children going around without the benefit of modern vaccinations. And now those children are starting to get sick.
This thing was beaten. Measles was literally beaten back right out of industrialized societies. Now we see it again.
Maybe now people will make sure their kids get the vacs they need.
