Double Fatal Pedestrian Collision Sunday Morning On Rockville Pike
Police are investigating another fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Rockville Pike. This one took place on the northbound side of the Pike near Marinelli Road, very early Sunday morning. Two pedestrians were hit and died, one on the scene and one later at Suburban Hospital.
Here is the story from Montgomery County Police:
[Sunday] at approximately 3:19 a.m., 2nd District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the report of a pedestrian collision on northbound Rockville Pike at Marinelli Road. Officers arriving on the scene found two injured subjects in the roadway.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two 26-year-old males were struck by a black 2010 Acura TSX that was traveling northbound on Rockville Pike. The driver of the vehicle initially stopped his vehicle, exited the car, and appeared to check on the victims. For reasons still under investigation, the driver got back in his vehicle and drove to the next intersection where he turned right onto Old Georgetown Road. There, he parked the car and walked back to the scene.
Investigating officers developed probable cause that the driver had been driving under the influence and took him into custody. He was processed at the 2nd District Station where he provided a breath sample to determine his blood alcohol content. Charges are pending at the conclusion of the investigation.
The pedestrians have been identified as Adam Joseph Hosinski of the 15100 block of Snowden Drive in Silver Spring and Rory Joseph Weichbrod of the 100 block of Lexington Drive in Silver Spring. Adam Hosinski died on the scene. Rory Weichbrod succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Suburban Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Alejandro Roman, 25 years old, of the 1600 block of Gruenther Avenue in Rockville.
