Here’s another nice shot by Eric Jensen. I thought it a good day for a photo with a flag in it.
If you are not going down to DC today, I hope to see you at City Hall to watch the inauguration! I plan to be there around 11 or so.

This moving shot is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen — he calls it “The Red Brick Courthouse on a foggy night in Rockville.” I guess I would, too.

POTD: Walk The Line

This is the walkway along Montgomery Avenue, where the new courthouse will be. The shot is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen. In addition to being beautiful, I thought it was timely, as we just ran an update on court house construction!

POTD: El Oh El Ay — LOLA!

The gorgeous shot is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen. Of it, he says: “Lola Café and Bakery – new bakery and café next to the Apollo restaurant. Great baked goods, great coffee AND they serve it in ceramic cups on ceramic saucers. What a treat.”

POTD: Slip Slidin' Away
>

(With apologies to You Know Who.) This remarkable pic is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen. It is hard to imagine better weather for a shot like this! Here’s what Eric says: “It felt like summer on Saturday and some Rockville kids took advantage of the warm weather with a backyard sprinkler and Slip n’ Slide.”

POTD: Don't Stand So Close To Me
>
(With apologies to The Police.) This photo is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen. Of it, he says:
“Can someone from the City of Rockville answer this question: Why is there a police cruiser parked in front of the Austin Grill (and the Regal theaters) most evenings and especially on weekends? Do they think this makes people feel safer? Or is there an underlying problem that we all should be concerned about? Because if there’s not an underlying problem, I would like to see less of a police presence in our downtown. I feel parking these police cars in the middle of Town Square is more intimidating than it is helpful. Their presence implies that we have crime problems in our Town Square. Do we? I would be curious to find out how others reading this blog feel, but friends and neighbors that I’ve spoken with about this feel the same way I do. I really wish the City of Rockville would get their Cruisers cruising again instead of having them parked in the middle of our beautiful Town Square.”

POTD: What Time Is It?
>

(With apologies to Morris Day.) This photo, taken by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen (and cropped by me — don’t get mad, Eric), is a puzzler: “Why are all the outdoor clocks in downtown Rockville wrong?” Eric writes. “Maybe someone needs to change the batteries or plug them in or something. It’s never made any sense to me. (I don’t have a shot of the clock in front of the Regal, but it’s almost always wrong, too). In this shot, it really is 12:35 p.m., so the yellow clock is correct, but the white clock has been 1:05 since it was installed.”

POTD: Slippery People
>
(Apologies to Talking Heads.) This Picture Of The Day is by Rockville Central friend Eric Jensen. It seemed apropos given yesterday’s afternoon weather. Of the shot, Eric says: “FRIT - I think it means — ‘Really Slippery Tiles.’ Avoid them if the temperature is close to freezing. Wet or not, these tiles in Rockville Town Square are slick as ice when the weather gets cold.”
